Share YOUR Story

You don’t need to be a polished public speaker.
You don’t need a finished body of work.
You don’t need to have everything figured out.

If you have a creative practice and a story beneath it, you belong here.

What Does It Mean to Share Your Story?

At The Work Beneath, sharing your story isn’t about giving a lecture or presenting a portfolio. It’s about talking honestly about the experiences, questions, challenges, and moments that have shaped how you create.

That might include:

  • how art has helped you through grief, burnout, or change

  • navigating identity, mental health, or self-doubt through creativity

  • learning to listen to your body, your intuition, or your needs

  • reclaiming joy, play, or purpose in your practice

  • making art in the margins of life — alongside work, caregiving, illness, or uncertainty

Your story doesn’t have to be dramatic or tidy. It just has to be yours.

What to Expect as a Featured Artist

Featured artists participate in a monthly talk at Wolverine Farm Publick House, either through:

  • a solo talk
  • a paired talk
  • or a small panel conversation

You’ll have time to share your story, followed by audience Q&A and conversation.

Liz and Stacey will:

  • meet with you ahead of time to talk through your ideas
  • help you shape your talk in a way that feels comfortable and authentic
  • support you through the entire process

You are never expected to do this alone.

Who Can Apply?

We welcome ALL makers and creatives! Dancers, poets, visual artists, musicians, photographers, designers, bakers, cooks, and more!

You do not need to be a full-time artist or have formal training. If creativity is part of how you move through the world, we want to hear from you.

Just check out the application :)
